A copper alloy, post medieval Nuremberg jetton of the 'Ship Penny' type, dating from AD1490-1550. This is an example of the anonymous issue with fictitious legend. It is a little unusual in that the ship on the obverse is sailing to the right, unlike the majority of these jettons which have the ship sailing left. The jetton has been pierced with a circular hole at 7 o'clock on the obverse. It is 27.9mm in diameter and 0.7mm thick. It weighs 2.66gm. Reference: Mitchiner, 1988, Jettons, Medalets and Tokens, Volume 1, pages 365-376.
