Two fragments of a Post-Medieval cloth seal from Wesel in Germany. These are almost certainly two parts of the same four part cloth seal. The double perforations in each are secondary and may indicate an attempt to re-attach the two most important parts of the seal to a cloth of bale after the origiinal seal was broken off. One is of a lead/tin alloy and has a diameter of c.35mm. It is uniface with two squarish perforations 1.5mm and 2.5mm in diameter, diametrically opposed and near to the edge of the disc. Medal of Frederick the Great of Prussia with a diameter of 43mm. The edge is damaged. It is of copper alloy, probably of pinchbeck, a brass, mainly of copper with some zinc, invented in the 18th century as a cheap imitation of gold and often used for medals. It is an English medal commemorating the victories of Frederick the Great over the French at Rosbach and the Austrians at Lissa in the Severn Years War. Four/ possibly five fragments of flue tile of varying size, the largest measuring 110x87x19mm and extending 38mm to the reverse. The smallest, probably a flue tile though with no extending arm, measures 47x45x16mm and has the deep grooves for 'keying'. Another fragment with a broken extension could be another but lacks the keying grooves. They collectively weigh in excess of 750g. The fabric is orange and sandy.
