A Medieval voided long cross penny of Henry III (1216-1272 AD). Moneyer: Nicole; Canterbury Mint. North Class Vb, dated to c. 1250-56 AD. Obverse depicts a crowned bust facing with sceptre, with fleur in centre of crown; the legend reads: + hENRICVS [REX] III. The 'N' and 'R' in Henricus are ligated with the R having a wedge-shaped leg. The reverse depicts a voided long cross with three pellets in each quadrant and a small central pellet; the reverse legend reads NIC/OLE/ONC/ANT. Cf. North 1994 Vol I, p227, No. 992/2; also Wren 1993, Class Vb.

Obverse EDW R' ANGL DNS HYB (crowned bust facing, bushy hair and broad neck and shoulders, reversed Ns in legend).
Reverse CIVI/TAS/EBO/RACI (long cross dividing the legend, three pellets in each angle and a quatrefoil in the centre).
The coin suffers from some wear and damage.
