An incomplete, damaged and misshapen post-Medieval to Modern cast copper-alloy 'hawking' whistle (c. 1700-c. 1900 AD). The main body of the whistle is hollow and tubular in cross-section with a semi-circular sound hole at the top. Between the sound hole and the mouth-piece is a narrow collar and level with the collar, on the inside of the whistle, is a vertical baffle with a small aperture at the top. An incomplete copper-alloy artefact of probable Late Iron Age to Early Roman date. The piece is roughly 'L-shaped', a near vertical arm extending into the remains of pointed-oval plate. The arm is of semicircular section, the lower end flaring into a foot which has a groove around its damaged outer edge. At its top, the sides of the arm extend smoothly into the pointed-oval plate, just over half of which remains. An unidentified lead-alloy artefact of probable Medieval or post-Medieval date. The artefact takes the form of a squashed cylinder, open at one end, the other end closed but for a central aperture. Immediately below the open end there are two attached strap handles, one on either side, their surfaces possibly decorated with a cast pattern of transverse grooves and ridges. An incomplete Post Medieval cast lead Powder Flask cap, circa 1600 AD - 1700 AD. One of the integral loops that attached the cap to a bandolier is missing. The cap secured the mouth of a flask, that held a single charge of gunpowder for a Musket. Sometimes up to twelve such flasks were attached to a bandolier and were referred to as "Apostles". The images show the cap in its original as found condition, and also after restoration. It measures height 20.2mm, base diameter 19.02mm, and weight 25.2g. A base sherd from a Roman ceramic vessel. The base is flat and has wavy comb marks on its underside. The side forms an angle of approximately 60 degrees with the base and has rilling on its inner face, providing evidence of wheel throwing. The fabric is off-white with a creamy brown core, sand-tempered and has occasional grog inclusions. Dimensions: diameter of base (remaining): 71.4mm; surviving height: 31.8mm; weight: 70.61g. A complete cast copper alloy stamped domed thimble, c. 1350-1450 AD. The thimble was fashioned from a copper alloy sheet and hand punched with holes which spiral from the top; there is a circular 'tonsure' at the top of thimble's dome from this process. A small plain band is visible at the base. The thimble has been crushed slightly, possibly due to damage during deposition. The thimble measures 14.44 mm high, with a base measuring 17.29 mm by 13.61 mm, 0.70 mm thick sheet and weighs 1.94 grams. Cf. Holmes, Fig. 1a from 'Sewing Thimbles', Datasheet 9, Finds Research Group 700-1700.

A cast lead alloy uniface token dating to the Post Medieval period, c. 1550-1800 AD. Powell Type 2. The token is decorated on one side with the letter 'H'. The reverse face is flat and undecorated. It measures 19.61 mm in diameter, 1.86 mm thick and weighs 3.4 grams. Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally; they are therefore difficult to date precisely, however tokens with initials or letters are given a general date of c. 1550-1800.

A copper-alloy uniface coin weight of Late Medieval date. The weight is sub-circular, the raised design depicting a king standing on a ship and holding a shield. The weight (3.16g) and the presence of a rose, located at the centre of the hull, indicate that this is for a half ryal, a coin issued between 1464 and 1470. Dimensions: 14.9mm diameter, 2.3mm thick.

A fragment of unidentified object of uncertain date, measuring 14.30x13.05x2.50mm and weighing 1.79g. The object is openwork and square in shape, with a U-shaped inward projection on two opposing sides, creating an openwork-H at the centre. To one of the other edges is a broken stump, 3.74x2.50mm. The fragment is just possibly from a Late Early-Medieval (900-1100) copper alloy slide key for use with a padlock, of type C variant, consisting of the bit and small stump of stem only, but not enough survives to give a more certain identification.

A complete flint thumbnail scraper of Neolithic date 3500-2100 BC. The lithic is ovate in profile and plano-convex in section. The dorsal surface is covered in cortex centrally with steep retouch and some flaking to the outer edges distally and both on the left and right hand sides, the proximal end is abruptly blunted. The ventral surface is convex due to a bulb of percussion at the proximal end which has been flaked. The flint is dark brown colour with cream inclusions throughout. An incomplete copper-alloy harness pendant of Medieval date. The pendant is circular, the upper surface bearing a raised shield with the following blazon: gules three lions passant guardant Or (three lions facing left, on a red background, the raised areas gilt). The flat border surrounding the shield also retains traces of gilding and is decorated with a wavy line, a single pellet located within the underside of each curve.
