An incomplete sub square lead alloy artefact of uncertain function and form, but probably of Post Medieval dating (AD 1600 to AD 1800). The artefact is sub square in shape. One corner has a circular indentation for attachement. The front exhibits decoration consisting of: five rounded pellets in the centre, in a cross design, within an arched tressure, all within a lozenge shaped cartouche. A fragment of a copper-alloy statue of Roman date, c.AD 43 - 410. The fragment is an ear from an animal, possibly a horse. It is sub-triangular in plan with a U-shaped section. Repeated transverse grooves are positioned around the edge of the front of the ear, giving the appearance of hair. Shallow cut-outs with straight edges are present around the area of the break to the lower edge of the ear. A small square cut-out is also present through the edge of the object.
