This cast metal fragment appears to be the side wall of a cylindrical vessel, approximately 90mm diameter and made from what appears to be bronze. The top edge (in the image) seems to have a moulding suggesting a rim was just above it and on the reverse it starts to roll to the front. The lower edge also seems to have broken quite evenly and straight. At approximately the mid-point a hole has been drilled (or cast?) from the outside surface inwards as it is countersunk.

Medieval or post-medieval cast copper-alloy pot leg, c.1200-1650 AD. The leg is D-shaped in cross-section with a flat front and convex back and a central raised rib running down the front. It has an old irregular break at the upper end. The leg widens forwards at the base to create the plain D-shaped foot. It is 33.1mm tall, 37.7mm wide, 25.6mm thick; it weighs 83.34 grams. A probable vessel repair (pot mend) made of cast copper alloy. The date is uncertain but probably dates from the Medieval to Post Medieval period, circa 1450 to 1650. The repair does not have any remnants of the pottery and so the date cannot be refined further. The repair comprises of a thin disk (maximum diameter 13.68mm) with an attached shaft. The repair has a green/light brown patina. There are patches of white chalk residue on the repair. Dimensions: 23.58mm x 12.87mm x 6.10mm. Weight: 4.38g.
