A Post Medieval gold finger ring, a decade ring, probably dating to the 17th century. The finger ring comprises a band with a D-shaped cross-section and it is decorated with 10 applied spheres of gold and 1 applied cross. It appears to have been made in a strip with the ends soldered together to form a ring. The point of solder seems to correspond with the applied cross. There are no marks or inscriptions on the inner surface. The ten knops around the circumference of the ring suggest that it was a decade ring, used as a discreet way of assisting in the saying of the ten prayers that m…

Coins of this type were struck in the Somme valley area of N.W. France in the mid-2nd century BC. A gold finger ring of medieval date. The finger ring is complete, with a circular hoop that is D-shaped in cross-section. The convex outer surface is decorated with an inscription separated into three, separated by motifs of a transverse groove with three radiating leaves to either side. The inscription is in a black-letter (Gothic) script and reads ien du re (I endure). Compare WAW-F2CA07, which has the same inscription in the same groups of letters. The black-letter script suggests a date in the late 14th or 15th centuries.

A total of 91 items were recorded of which 86 are early Medieval and, with three possible exceptions, probably relate to the hoard. The finds recorded consist of 38.85g of gold and 100.90g of silver, including the 79.13g cheek piece, 5004 . It must be recognised that these figures include both earth and garnets and will be reduced by cleaning and that the descriptions of the metal alloys are based only on visual examination, not analysis. The finds include a block of earth which appears to contain gold, 5091. The preliminary x radiographs suggest that this contains a single, folded, s…

A coin hoard comprising 44 Iron Age staters of the 'Norfolk Wolf' Uninscribed Icenian JB type. These were found scattered in what appear to have been two groups over a relatively small area, the first group in November 2012 and the second in ?March 2013. If two hoards were concealed, however, these must surely be two part of one main deposit; the two groups of coins share die-links as well as being of the same type. All of the South Norfolk coins are struck from the same rather pale debased gold, implying a date of production some years after the beginning of the Norfolk Wolf serie…

An early Anglo-Saxon openwork circular gold pendant with a four-spiral swastika-type or tetraskele pattern in the center. The swastika appears to have been stamped from a single piece of gold sheet. It is an equilateral cross with four arms all bent round on themselves anti-clockwise to create spirals. This central design is surrounded by three concentric circles formed by a single beaded wire, now quite worn, spiralling round; this is in turn surrounded by a separate wire, similarly beaded but now extremely worn, creating the outer ring.
