An incomplete Medieval cast copper alloy buckle frame with spacer for composite buckle plate. The oval frame is only three quarters complete and would had a projecting pointed pin rest in the middle of the outer side. The frame has a flat back and inner edge and bevelled top and outer edge. From the frame projects the forked spacer one of which has broken off. The front and back plates and pin are missing. The piece measures 26.80mm long by 20.68mm wide and 4.44mm thick. A cast copper-alloy buckle frame of Medieval date. It is a trapezoidal frame with a rounded attachment end and a centre bar which is rectangular in section. The bar is slightly narrowed for the pin which is missing. There are small knops top and bottom at the rounded attachment end. At the outside edge are four horizontal grooves, one of which would have served as the pin rest. It measures 23.83mm in length, 18.28mm in width, 2.07mm in thickness and weighs 2.64g.

It is decorated with a series of transverse lines on the top and bottom edges which extend down the bar. There are two circular indentations, one either side of the narrowing of the bar. It measures 35.03mm in length, 27.51mm in width, 4.52mm in thickness and weighs 13.71g.

The plate tapers and the lower part is narrower than the upper. There appears to be no decoration but the upper part of the plate retains traces of gilding.

Its outer edge is swollen and the upper face of the frame is ribbed overall. This buckle frame has a green patina with some small areas of corrosion. 20.49 x 25.59 x 5.84mm. Weight: 5.24g.

An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is roughly half of a double looped oval with moulded decoration on the loops. Lobed knops are present at two symmetrical points on the surviving loop and at either end of the strap bar. The metal has a mid blackish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 24.8mm long, 22.8mm wide, 2.7mm thick and weighs 3.5g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead p.63, no.382 and is dated to circa 1550 - 1650.

A complete cast copper alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is a double looped asymmetrical shape with moulded decoration on the loops. The outer edge of the rectangular loop bears six lobed knops and two further knops are also present at symmetrical points on the outer edge. Lobed protrusions also project from either end of the strap bar. The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 23.9mm long, 18.9mm wide, 2.5mm thick and weighs 2.7g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.92, no.577 and is dated to circa 1575 - 1700.

A complete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is a single looped D-shape with a narrowed and recessed strap bar. Slight internal projections are present where the strap bar and frame proper meet. The buckle is undecorated and the square sectioned pin remains in tact. The metal has a dark greenish-brown patina and is worn. The buckle is 35.4mm long, 23.7mm wide, 2.5mm thick and weighs 7.1g. Similar examples are illustrated in Whitehead p's.18 & 19 and are dated to circa 1250 - 1500.

An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. Only a small portion of the outer frame survives which is sub-triangular in plan with a latitudinal groove to serve as a pin rest. The tip of the frame projects into a worn trifoliate design with a large central knop and small flanking knops. The reverse is flat and undecorated. The metal has a dark brownish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 35.9mm long, 14.2mm wide, 2.7mm thick and weighs 5.3g.
