A Medieval to post-Medieval leg from a cast copper-alloy cooking vessel (c. 1250-c. 1650 AD). The object is sub-circular in cross-section and has a small portion of the body of the vessel at one end. The other end is in the form of an irregular break. It has a mid-green patina which is overlain in places with a black substance, probably consolidated soot. 54.64 x 17.42 x 16.49mm. Maximum diameter of leg: 11.28mm. Weight: 42.06g. Similar legs were common on all types of cooking vessels, cauldrons, skillets, posnets and ewers. A Medieval to post-Medieval leg/foot from a cast copper-alloy cooking vessel (c. 1250-c. 1650 AD). The object is sub-rectangular in plan and cross-section throughout its length. It has a flat undecorated rear face. At the front there is a central vertical rib. The base is rounded and uneven and the top is in the form of an old oblique break. A cast, copper-alloy buckle of 11th- or 12th-century date. It has a D-shaped frame, retaining a wire pin with a wrap-around hinge fixing a small rectangular plate of copper alloy between the hinge and crossbar. The frame is triangular in section in the outer frame, but circular in section on its sides. The crossbar is obscured by the pin and plate. Compare NMS-FC0040.
