A stone spindle whorl which is circular in plan probably dating to the Medieval period, (1100-1500). It is circular in plan and sub-rectangular in cross-section. The object has a central circular perforation which has been drilled from each side. The object measures 33.11mm in diameter, 7.32mm in thickness and weighs 12.0g. The diameter of the internal perforation is 7.68mm. The object consists of a light greyish-brown rough stone. Spindle whorls were used from the Roman through to the Post-Medieval period. Fragment of a whetstone. The stone was presumably once elongated but only the terminal remains. The terminal is oval in cross-section and has hole drilled through it for suspension. The stone is a fine grey material. Probably medieval.

Sandstone rotary grindstone, probably of Medieval or Post Medieval date. About 40% of the stone remains, it was a sub circular disk with a hole drilled through the centre. On the remaining fragment the maximum width between the central hole and edge is 60.9mm and the minimum 45.4mm. It appears it was flat on both sides with a flat outer edge although it is now badly pitted. It is 128mm by 68mm across, 59.4mm thick and weighs 530 grams. The stone has been examined by Dennis Parsons who gave his opinion that it is a sandstone with mica and from a non-Somerset source. Although similar …
