An incomplete cast copper-alloy object, probably a strap fitting or slide of Early-Medieval date. It has a flat rectangular plate, on the back face of which at either end are single integrally cast rectangular lugs that are missing their outer edges due to old breaks. The front face of the plate has extensive chip carved decoration. This comprises a rectangular border containing at its centre a band of punched pellet shaped motifs. A complete cast copper-alloy hooked tag of Post-Medieval date. The tag has an openwork plate that is trefoil shaped and in the form of a Hungerford knot. This consists of a single hatched cord that is interlaced to form the trefoil knot shape, each end of the cord terminating at the top of the plate with a small moulded five petalled rose. From the top of each rose extends a transverse bar that is rectangular in form and D-shaped in section and which creates an attachment loop that is triangular in form. It is flat, rectangular in form with a curved terminal end that has a central circular aperture. The front face has borders along each side formed from deeply incised single lines, with traces of incised zig-zag motifs at the rounded terminal. The object is flat, rectangular in form and slightly bent due to post-depositional damage. On its front face it has notched long edges with transverse double grooves towards the old break. A cast copper-alloy object, possibly a chape or ferrule of Medieval date. It is tubular in form, rectangular in profile, with hexagonally faceted outer edge, tapering slightly towards the base. On opposing sides of the outer edge are two narrow faces, with six larger facets between them. A denarius, possibly a contemporary copy, of Severus Alexander dating to the period AD 228 to 231 (Reece period 11). PERPETVITATI AVG reverse type. As Mint of Rome. As RIC IV, p. 86, no. 208. The coin appears to have a high base-metal content, hence its identification as a possible copy. However, its execution is good which casts doubt on its status as a forgery.
