A tin alloy Plantations Token issued in the reign of James II, in 1688.
The obverse of the coin shows James II on horseback with the legend IACOBVS II D G MAG BRI FRAN ET HIB REX. The reverse shows four crowned shields of England, Scotland, France and Ireland linked by chains and the legend VAL 24 PART REAL HISPAN.
These coins were minted in England for use in the colonies, or Plantations, of America.
