A bent 16-/17th-century copper-alloy post-medieval jetton of Hans Krauwinckel II (fl. 1586-1635), of the 'Rose / orb' type, 'GOT VERTRAW VND AVH IN BAVW' legend, struck at Nuremberg. The jetton has been bent over on itself, almost in half. This is a very unusual legend for Hans Krauwinckel II and is not published in the main reference work. An example has, however, been recorded on this database (ref. WMID363) and, as is noted in that record, Wolf Lauffer II (fl. 1612-1651 AD) used a similar legend (Mitchiner 1706).

An extremely worn copper alloy Medieval jetton, probably of Edward I (1272-1307 AD). Most of the obverse of the jetton is too worn to identify fully, but it seems to have a legend border of alternating pellets and stars, possibly interspersed with some lettering. The reverse is of a long cross fourchee with six pellets in each quarter and pellets in the outer legend border. Slightly off of the centre of the long cross, the jetton has been 'pierced' or impressed with a small circle to indicate its proper usage as a jetton. French Medieval copper alloy jetton issued at Tournai, shield of France Moderne / triple stranded cross flueretty design. A similar design with pellets flanking the shield is recorded by Algar and Mernick (2001:223), no.127 dated to the third quarter of the 15th century. Mitchiner (1988:220) illustrates a similar reverse, no.642. The jetton has a tear through it to one side of the centre and was probably originally bent.

The obverse depicts a crown in the centre, although it has been obscured by the perforations. Around the perimeter is a garbled legend, ':+AVGR...AR...AGIAP....A,' part of the perimeter of the jetton is broken and not all of the legend is therefore, legible. A fragment of a probable copper alloy jetton that is likely Medieval in date. The edges are severely worn and less than half of the object has survived but some of the design is visible on one side - possibly a double-stranded arcuate cross fleuretty with a pellet in each angle. The obverse features a cross pattee with flowers springing into the quarters from the inner circle, the reverse has a square containing four lis. The obverse bears the legend SIT NO[---] DO I I I [---],and the reverse N [---] I [---] O (presumably this legend was the same on both faces). This example is similar to another jetton described by Sanders as late 15th Century. The jetton is in fair codsition, with some wear to the legend on both faces.
