A Medeival copper alloy double loop rectangular buckle with drilled frame for a separate spindle or as described by Egan, 2005, page 38, a 'locking buckle' with a separate bar, dating from the 14th/ 15th century, between AD 1300 - 150.The buckle is D-shape in section and has a notched outer edge with a single transverse ridge, where the spindle and pin rest. Oval buckle frame, with pierced lugs behind the bar in which a (missing) spindle for the attachment of the pin and plate would have been fixed, and with an animal-head knop in the centre of the outside edge. A wide moulded groove in the top of the bar and a narrower one in the animal head would have accommodated the pin. A shallow channel along the top of the sides and outside edge is inlaid with silver, some of which is extant. A cast copper alloy, oval loop, medieval buckle, Meols type C, dating from 1350-1400AD. It has slightly convex sides with small ridges on the outside of the loop at the forward corners. The outer edge is thickened and has three central grooves on the upper surface, the middle groove being broader than the other two, and a single groove at each end. A fragment of a cast copper alloy, double loop, oval buckle dating from the post medieval period, AD1550-1650. It has moulded trefoil knops on the outer edge of each loop and at each end of the strap bar. The strap bar is narrower than the rest of the frame. There is no other decoration. The buckle has a dark brown patina. The remaining portion is 30.7mm long, 29.5mm wide and 2.7mm thick. It weighs 3.94gm. A similar buckle is illustrated in Whitehead, 2003, Buckles 1250-1800, page 65, number 403.

A cast copper-alloy buckle frame of Post-Medieval date. The frame is annular in form with moulded decoration comprising a foliate outer edge and transverse grooves on the front face that give the brooch a five petalled flower form. At the centra of the frame is an integrally cast bar that is trapezoidal in section and has a slight pin constriction at its centre. The entire object measures 40.25mm in external diameter, 26.09mm in internal diameter, 2.20mm in thickness and 9.46g in weight.
