An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is part of a single looped oval buckle with an ornate outer edge comprised of a series of transverse grooves flanked by two lobed knops. The loop proper has been lost to old worn breaks. The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 41.8mm long, 5.3mm wide, 4.3mm thick and weighs 7.2g. Similar examples are illustrated in Whitehead, p.22 and are dated to circa 1250 - 1400.

A complete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is a single looped oval buckle with an ornate outer edge and a narrowed and offset strap bar. The outer curved edge bears a copper alloy sheet roller around a constriction flanked by two lobed knops. The pin remains in tact looped around the strap bar. The metal has a light brownish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 20.7mm long, 21.2mm wide, 6.3mm thick and weighs 4.9g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.22, no.96 and is dated to circa 1250 - 1400.

The pin remains in tact looped around the narrow strap bar. The metal has a light greyish-brown patina and is worn. The buckle is 23.3 mm long, 12.2mm wide, 2.3mm thick and weighs 1.6g. The pin no longer remains. The outer edge of the frame is wide and undecorated with no recess for the pin. The frame terminates in bulbous knops which are most probably crude representations of animal heads confronted across the strap bar. The pin and stud chape remain around the spindle though the very end of the chape has been lost to old breaks. The metal has a dark greenish-brown patina and is worn. The buckle is 21.9mm long, 16.6mm wide, 2.1mm thick and weighs 3.4g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.99, no.624 and is dated to circa 1660 - 1720.

The metal is a mid reddish-brown colour and is worn. The buckle is 22.9mm long, 17.7mm wide, 1.7mm thick and weighs 1.5g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.75, no.465 and is dated to circa 1570 - 1700. This example is however more slender than those depicted by Whitehead and could possibly be later.

The outer curved edges of the frame are decorated with trefoil designs which may have once been openwork but have since been filled with corroded metal. A fragment of a cast copper alloy buckle frame of post-medieval date. The buckle has a swollen centre and an incised line of decoration along the inner edge. On the reverse is an expansion to house the strap bar which is represented by iron corrosion. The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and survives in good condition despite its incompleteness. The buckle is 28.7mm long, 6.8mm wide, 5.1mm thick and weighs 2.7g.

An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of Early-medieval date. Roughly half of the buckle remains and is circular in section with a devolved open-jawed animal head at the terminal. The opposing side of the buckle would also have terminated in this feature giving the appearance of two beasts biting the hinge bar. The frame is decorated with swollen rings at regular intervals. The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 31.1mm long, 5.7mm in diameter and weighs 6.8g. Similar examples can be seen in Hawkes, p.58, fig.20.
