Roman Brooch: Incomplete and heavily worn cast copper alloy Headstud brooch. The bow and wings of the brooch survive. The head loop is missing although slight traces of where this was attached remain. The wings are cylindrical and the remains of the axis bar for the hinged pin are encased within. There is a slot for the, now missing, hinged pin in the centre of the reverse of the wings. The bow is semi-circular in section. A fragment of a silver denarius of uncertain emperor, probably dating to the early third century AD (Reece period 10 to 11). The fragment is too small to identify the reverse type although it depicts a figure standing left. Probably Mint of Rome. This coin has been deliberately cut and is a feature seen on many of the coins from this assemblage. It is possible that this represents a ritual or votive act.

A Post Medieval gold finger ring. The finger ring is circular in plan, with a little distortion in shape, and D-shaped cross-section although there is a slight curve to the internal surface which forms the upright of the D. The external surface is plain with no decoration nor inscription. There is an inscription on the internal surface. The finger ring is very worn and the upper section of the inscription is worn away. A complete cast copper alloy mount dating to the Medieval period. The mount is in the form of a kings head wearing a crown. Smaller mounts of similar form can be found on this database at HESH-52C2E2 and NARC-43D1F5, both of which depict an anthropomorphic head with stylised features similar to this mount. Above the head is a lozenge shaped plate representing a crown, or more likley a mitre representing Thomas Beckett. Cast decoration on the mitre is worn. Two prongs on the reverse are short.

Incomplete cast copper alloy Medieval book clasp of Howsam type A.1.3, with a hinged plate and loop. In this instance it is the looped component which has survived. The fitting consists of a flat sub-circular disc with a small loop, set at 90 degrees, projecting from one edge and at the opposite edge the broken hinge fitting. Dated c.1350-1450.
