Lead Bag Seal. Cast pair of discs linked by a sprue and clenched together to form a drawstring bag closure with a bifurcated slot opposite a wider slot. A stamped legend on one side reads: S. White Metal Possible Mount. Cast metal strip, broken in half, with upper curved edges and a straighter lower edge which suggest the object has been trimmed here, perhaps to remove an unwanted text or title. An embossed motif, which appears reversed on the back, comprises a cushion crown over four elongated leaves arranged as a saltire flanked by a pair of anchors on a ground of further similar leaves. The scheme recalls that of military or institutional badges. Suggested date: Modern, 1800-1900. Length: 44.5mm, Height: 12.4mm, Thickness: 1.2mm, Weight: 4.19gms.

Copper alloy and ?Jet, painted Bracelet fragment. Cast curving openwork strip with twelve tiny facetted black beads of diameter 3.4mm remaining attached. The beads were mounted on tiny pointed drawn wire pins of length 2.5mm projecting from three rows of circular sockets. Traces of black paint survive on the reverse. Plano-convex casting representing a beetle with eyes, wing case and abdomen modelled, and with the bent stub of an iron hook or pin embedded in its flat underside on the centre line, a little towards the tail. The form of the object enabled it to spin as it was drawn through water, and the low relief detail on the convex face was intended to set up vibrations to entice fish such as salmon or pike - its 'realistic' appearance would be of more significance to the fisherman than to his prey. A complete cast lead Russian bale seal of early modern date. The seal is circular with worn edges and a roughly rectangular cross section. It is comprised of a single disc of metal which is perforated by a hole running across its diameter. The holes would have been for wire or textile ligatures which were used to secure a bag.
