A complete lead alloy bag seal of Modern date (AD 1800-1950). The seal is comprised of a single disk which is perforated by a hole running across its diameter. The holes would have been for wire or textile ligatures which were used to secure a bag. The seal is stamped with text on both sides which gives a probable Russian origin to the seal. One side of the seal reads BOLLW[.....] around the outer parameter of the seal with a five pointed star or flower. The seal is roughly circular in plan with a rectangular cross section and is comprised of a single disc of metal which is perforated by a hole running across its diameter. The hole would have been for wire or textile ligatures which were used to secure a bag. The front is decorated with a stamped design of the crowned Dutch shield bearing the rampant lion of Holland with a sword in its right paw. The reverse appears undecorated though is very worn. The holes would have been for wire or textile ligatures which were used to secure a bag. Both sides are stamped with a central motif in a bordered roundel. On one side the image depicts a bird, most probably a pelican and the other side shows a pelican feeding its chicks with blood from its breast.
