Pottery Body Sherd. Hard fine dull red fabric with thick black internal and external glaze, from a large thin walled vessel. The internal glaze is bubbled so as to expose the fabric beneath, so a kitchen function would perhaps be unlikely. Suggested date: Modern, 1800-1950. This sherd was kindly examined by Helen Fry, Sandra Firth and Hazel West of the North Lincolnshire Pottery Research Group. Thickness: 6mm, Weight: 99.17gms

Copper alloy with traces of gilding Crucifix. Flat straight-armed crucifix with an apical loop for suspension. Both sides bear motifs in stamped low relief. On one side is the crucified Christ, draped at the waist and haloed, with scroll above. The other side bears the motif of a rayed Eucharistic host and chalice, and the legend THY / KING / DOM /COME - from the Lord's Prayer - with one syllable on each of the four arms of the cross. Pipeclay tobacco pipe fragment. Base of a bowl with small spur (lost - scar only) and fluted sides. A tobacco leaf motif ascends the front of the bowl. Stem bore: 1.9mm. A comparable decorative scheme is illustrated by Oswald (1975, BAR [Brit Ser] 14, plate VI no. 11). Suggested date: Modern, 1810-1850. Height: 19mm, Thickness (bowl): 3.1mm, Weight: 2.81g.

Copper alloy Possible Fireside Implement Handle. Cast openwork object comprising a loop at either end with a stem uniting them. The larger loop is subdivided and reinforced by a thin rod springing from a flower bud, and bears a collared socket of internal diameter 4.7mm; the smaller loop is open, perhaps serving for suspension of the object, and has a flat-ended collared terminal at the equivalent position. Cast sub-rectangular back plate with a square frame overlaid; the corners of the latter project from the centre of each side of the back plate. A round boss of diameter 3.3mm is set at each angle of each of the two intersecting squares.
