A pointed sinuous sided flake with nodular cortex backing most of the right margin and left margin towards the proximal end. This leaves a straight section of resharpened left margin and a short abruptly retouched end scraper or blunting to grip near the distal end. Mercer illustrates edge trimmed flakes on page 131, fig 57.

A flint scraper formed on a flake of secondary debitage, dating to the Neolithic period. The object is plano-convex in cross-section and irregular in plan. It curves slightly in profile. Less than 20% of the original cortex remains on the upper face of the object. Both of the long edges have been retouched. There is a small notch out of the side at the proximal end which is likely to be a break rather than deliberate. The flake is formed on a blade of dark grey flint. This object and LVPL-OFD487 have been found in association with LVPL-FE45E5 and have been made from the same flint r…

A knapped flint of probable Neolithic date. The bulb of percussion and striking platform are clearly visible at the proximal end. There appears to be some retouch on left lateral edge and a small area on the right lateral edge. It may possibly have been used as a scraper. Whilst the flint superficially resembles that of an arrowhead the retention of the bulb of percussion and the lack of retouch on the ventral face suggests that is not one. The flint is a pale grey in colour. Find not photographed.

A knapped flint flake of prehistoric date, possibly Neolithic. The flake appears to have some retouch along its remaining lateral edge - two other edges appear to be breaks. It has a clear bulb of percussion and bulbar scar on the ventral face at the proximal end. The flint is of a pale brown colour. Find not photographed.

Broad period: NEOLITHIC

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A knapped flint flake of prehistoric date, possibly Neolithic. The flake appears to have some retouch along both lateral edges, perhaps to form scraping edges. It has a clear bulb of percussion and bulbar scar on the ventral face at the proximal end. There are several negative scars from previous flake removal on the dorsal face. The flint is of a mottled grey colour. The tool looks as though it may have been snapped and as the break has a similar patina to the rest of the flint it seems likely that this is an ancient break rather than recent damage. Find not photographed.

A knapped flint of prehistoric date, possibly Neolithic. The flake does not appear to have been retouched after having been struck from the core. The flake is not of a good quality flint and has inconsistencies including an area of cortex. This is perhaps why it was not selected for further adaption. It is a pale grey to white in colour with an area of pale brown cortex. Find not photographed.

A prehistoric flint flake, probably Neolithic in date, perhaps used as a cutting blade. The bulb of percussion and bulbar scar are clearly visible on the ventral face at the proximal end. A ridge runs down the centre of the dorsal face, making the flint triangular in section. The tip is missing and there appears to be some retouch, particularly down the right lateral edge, perhaps to facilitate hafting. The flint is a dark grey colour with cream to white speckled inclusions. Find not photographed.
