Broad period: MEDIEVAL

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A copper alloy shield shaped harness pendant dating from 1200 - 1400 AD, with a broken suspension loop in the cnrte of the top edge. The loop is at 90 degrees to the plane of the pendant. The pendant has a raised edge and carries three stars or mullets of six points. The stars are silvered. None of the enamel from the background survives, so the colour is unknown. Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A copper-alloy looped fitting, probably an item of horse furniture, most likely from a bridle bit or cheekpiece. The object has a broken loop at one end which is rectangular in section. The loop is set off centre from the shaft. The shaft is square in section and has a double collar immediately before the break. The broken end appears to bifurcate. It is probably too short to be part of a bridle, but is similar in style and may well be from another piece of horse harness. It may be of medieval or post-medieval date. Compare NARC-721A00 and NLM-489F51 . The patina is a patchy mot…
