Roman silver 'TOT' ring from Hallaton, Leicestershire A complete silver finger-ring of Henig type XI. Sub-circular in profile with a hoop that expands gently towards the bezel. The band is broad and flat with a sub-rectangular section. Two grooves, slightly inset from each edge, run the circumference of the ring. The bezel is accentuated on each side by two impressed mouldings and the space between is roughly inscribed with a scratchy free hand. The inscription reads 'IOI'. An incomplete silver finger ring of Medieval dating. Only the bezel of the finger ring is present. It is oval in shape, with a cavity at the centre, intended to accommodate a gem, possibly a Classical intaglio. The border is engraved with a legend that reads: +IERVSALEM (Jersusalem). The bezel is silver and dates from the 13th Century AD. Dimensions: Height 17mm, width 15mm. The bezel was not weighed. Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal, it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
