A fragment of green glazed pottery dating to the Medieval period. One side has all of the glaze remaining, whilst much of the glaze on the other side has been worn away. One the worn side are a set of incised lines, possibly left from the decoration. The sherd weighs 5.5g and measures 38.5mm at its longest point and 20.5mm at its widest point. Incomplete stem of a post medieval clay pipe dating to c.1610-1710. It is circular in section and has a central hole running the length of the stem. Each end of the object terminates with a break. The diameter of the external stem is 6.87mm. The diameter of the internal perforation is 2.56mm.

A sherd of Medieval ceramic vessel, probably a dish as it is only glazed on the inside. The fabric is a warm grey colour with a fine break and the inclusions are poorly sorted white quartz pebbles and grey flecks. There is a white slip under the glaze which is pale lemony green with strips of dark brown.

Three sherds of Post Medieval slip ware ceramic vessels. There are two wall sherds from different vessels, and a rim sherd. The fabric is hard and dark red with inclusions of white flecks and some streaks of white clay. The thicker wall sherd and the rim sherd have a dark brown glaze with white slip stripes. the wall sherd has a row of short stripes, and the rim has a zigzag line round the rim. The smaller and thinner wall sherd has a dark brown glaze on the outer face with an hour glass shaped area of white slip, and has a yellow glaze on the inner face.

Two sherds of medieval ceramic vessels. The larger is a rim sherd. The fabric is oxidised and hard, with an irregular fracture. The core is grey, the outer parts of the fabric are buff to pink with a brown coating on the outer face and a black coating on the inner face. The inclusions are mainly large angular pieces of quartz which make the surface rough. The rim is flared outwards from the neck, straight, and with a slightly rounded square edge. A Roman ceramic strainer sherd of possible Vectis Ware (c. 43-c. 350 AD). This sherd is flat and dark grey on one side and reddish brown on the other side and has numerous perforations. Some of the perforations are not fully pierced through. The breaks are old. 46.12 x 27.04 x 5.52mm. Weight: 6.23g. Pottery base sherd from a cup. Slipware. A hard dull red fabric with splashed internal and external metallic glaze with an external trail of white slip. The vessel, perhaps a cup, had an estimated diameter of 120mm, with a flat base and a stepped foot. The body is corrugated; lightly on the middle part of the outside, and more prominently within. The area bearing white slip also bears crude knife-cut vertical slashes. The impression is of an individualistic piece. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1650-1700. Weight: 61.87gms.

A rim sherd from an early Roman platter (c. 1st century AD). It is of a crude triangular form with breaks that are fairly abraded. It is very shallowly curved in profile. The rim is thickened (10mm) compared to the extant body (5.5mm). There is an external depressed band below the rim. Internally there is a thick ridge below the rim, below which two thin ridges. The platter is in imitation of Gallo-Belgic forms (Helen Rees pers. comm. 24 May 2012). The fabric is fairly fine and sandy. It has dark-grey outer surfaces with a lighter core.

The fabric is fine and sandy with some possible mica inclusions. It is light/mid-grey in colour. There are low parallel ridges internally that might be throwing marks. Given the findspot it may have come from the kilns at Alice Holt (Helen Rees pers. comm. 24 May 2012).
