A small cast copper-alloy single-looped buckle frame of medieval date (c. 14th century AD). The frame is oval with a lipped protrusion at its outer edge which would have acted as a pin rest. The pin bar is offset and narrowed; the pin is missing. Both surfaces of the frame are flat. The pin bar and lower surface are covered in file marks. The artefact now has a dark-grey patina with patches of off-white corrosion product. For this type see Griffiths et al. (2007, 88) where they are dated to the late 14th century.

Medieval or Post Medieval cast copper-alloy double-loop buckle frame. The frame has two oval loops. They are D-shaped in section with flat backs and a rounded front. The pin is missing but iron corrosion around the strap bar and covering half of one loop may suggest it was iron. It is 26.1mm long, 21.8mm wide and 1.8mm thick, 5.7mm including the iron; it weighs 3.13 grams. A similar example is illustrated in Margeson (1993:30, no.164) from a 17th century context although it is likely similar simple forms were in use by c.1350 (Egan and Pritchard 1993:22, 82-3, cf no.332).

A part of a Post Medieval Buckle dating from about 1660 - 1720 and made of copper alloy. It appears to have been a single looped buckle and most of the frame survives but only a tiny part of the bar. The breaks are exceedingly worn, so the possibility that it was a double looped buckle cannot be ruled out. The outer edge if convex and is decorated with a border of punched dots. The wide frame is decorated with punched lines forming leaf motifs, and depressed dots surrounded by rings. The designs contain surviving gilding. The sides of the frame are bi-concave, and there is a slig…

Below it is a copper alloy rivet, which is oval shaped in section and is centrally located in the collar of the plate. The plate tapers to a foliate terminal with five projecting lobes and a central circul…
