An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is roughly half of a double looped oval with moulded decoration on the loops. Lobed knops are present at two symmetrical points on the surviving loop and at either end of the strap bar. The metal has a mid blackish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 24.8mm long, 22.8mm wide, 2.7mm thick and weighs 3.5g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead p.63, no.382 and is dated to circa 1550 - 1650.

A complete cast copper alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is a double looped asymmetrical shape with moulded decoration on the loops. The outer edge of the rectangular loop bears six lobed knops and two further knops are also present at symmetrical points on the outer edge. Lobed protrusions also project from either end of the strap bar. The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 23.9mm long, 18.9mm wide, 2.5mm thick and weighs 2.7g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.92, no.577 and is dated to circa 1575 - 1700.

A complete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is a single looped D-shape with a narrowed and recessed strap bar. Slight internal projections are present where the strap bar and frame proper meet. The buckle is undecorated and the square sectioned pin remains in tact. The metal has a dark greenish-brown patina and is worn. The buckle is 35.4mm long, 23.7mm wide, 2.5mm thick and weighs 7.1g. Similar examples are illustrated in Whitehead p's.18 & 19 and are dated to circa 1250 - 1500.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy lid from a box of nested cup weights of late post-medieval date. What remains of the lid is semi-circular and extremely worn and beaten, with a small perforation close to the surviving edge. The perforation most probably marks the point at which the handle would have been attached to the lid. The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and is extremely worn. The lid is 32.3mm long, 16.7mm wide, 3.9mm thick and weighs 8g. Lids with handles, such as this one, appear to be of post-medieval date. A similar though more complete example can be seen on the…
