A cast copper alloy octofoil mount dating to the medieval period. The mount has eight domed lobes extending from the outer circumference of a circular domed body; the lobes are hollow on the back, as is the central boss, from the which extends the remains of a square-sectioned shank for attachment. The rear of the mount is plain and undecorated. Egan and Pritchard (1993:186-194) illustrate a range of copper alloy flower mounts which were used to adorn straps and harnesses or belts. There are no markings, stamps or decorations on either the upper or lower face of the weight. A cast copper alloy thumb screw, possibly from a watch winder, nutcracker or even a musical instrument. The screw has a sub-circular dished head with small knop at the apex, a skirted collar beneath which separates the turning head from the shaft; only a fragment of the screw thread survives. Similar objects are recorded as the screw heads for open-box nutcrackers; although no watch-winder exactly like this example has been found, it is possibly this may have also been the objects original purpose. 17th to 18th century AD.

The pot mend comprises two sub-oval discs joined by a thick central shank and was used to mend a broken vessel in order to lengthen the period of use after damage had occurred. Although very hard to date on their own, some pot-mends do date to the Roman period, although the majority date to the medieval and post-medieval period, c. AD 1300-1550.

Incomplete post Medieval cast copper alloy sword belt fitting. The fitting consists of an irregular-shaped plate decorated with an incised curvilinear floriate design. The plate had two circular rivets at the top and bottom, one of the holes for these rivets survives intact but the other is incomplete as it is the point of a break. The fitting is broken at both the top and bottom. Compare with DENO-11C9C1 a complete example of this type of fitting. Fittings of this type are typically dated c.1550-1650.

A cast copper alloy strap fitting or possible clasp. The fitting is rectangular in plan and made of two sheets of copper, one of which is now broken and incomplete. The sheets are pierced at one end and two copper rivets secure the plates together. There is a large perforation between the two rivets which extends in the edge of the fitting, making the hole open. File marks can be seen on the inside of the sheets. This fitting may be a strap end or securing fitting for a belt buckle. It dates to the medieval period c. AD 1200-1500.

It has a raised rim that runs around the outer circumference. The spindle whorl is decorated with a series of raised pellets on both sides; there is possibly a cross on one side although it is hard to make out. Spindle whorls decorated in this fashion are usually attributed to the earlier medieval period, c. AD 110-1400. Some examples may predate this and belong to the end of the early-medieval period.

A cast copper alloy Roman dolphin style brooch, dating to the first century AD. The brooch is almost complete, missing only its pin. The bow is decorated with raised vertical ribs that run down the centre of the spine; the wings enclose the spring and are decorated with a single incised line at either end. The bow is slightly twisted towards the foot where the catch plate is retained intact. This brooch is similar to those illustrated in Hattatt (2000) nos 882 and 817.

A copper alloy Roman brooch; a trumpet brooch dating from 75 - 175 AD, of which only the lower bow survives. The acanthus button is on the front only, and has three petals at the top and three at the bottom. Below is a triple collar. The lower bow is decorated with two vertical recessed panels, with a raised chevron at the top of each, both pointing inwards forming a cross (X) at the top of the decorated area. The foot is missing but part of the catchplate survives. The breaks are worn and patinated. The whole brooch has a dark green patina.

A raised circular element is present on one surface and is infilled with red enamel. The metal has a light green patina and is extremely worn. The object is 13.3mm long, 10.3m wide, 2.8mm thick and weighs 1g.

An incomplete copper alloy Roman enamelled umbonate brooch. The brooch is domed and covered with two concentric rings of small triangular cells. The outer ring cells are, alternatively, filled with white and blue enamel. The inner tringular cells are narrower and inlaid with white and red enamel. A small conical hollow at the centre shows no trace of enamel. The hinged pin and the stub of catchplate extend beyond the back. The reverse of the dome is concave shaped. A part of the pin lug and the catchplate have been preserved, the pin is missing.

A cast copper alloy trade weight for a quarter ounce. The weight has a crown at 12 o'clock and an unidentified mark at 6 o'clock, possibly a ewer but too worn for definite identification. The trade weight is now worn and slightly underweight at 0.22 oz (6.3gms). The trade weight dates from AD 1550 onwards. Without being able to identify the symbology a more accurate date remains elusive.

A complete but broken cast copper alloy finger ring of post-medieval to modern date. The finger ring has a flat circular bezel which appears undecorated and is flanked by sub-oval shoulders. From the shoulders the D-shaped sectioned hoop extends though is broken halfway around its circumference. The metal has a light blackish-green patina and is worn. The finger ring is 27.8mm long, 13.1mm wide, 2.1mm thick and weighs 4.1g.

The decoration consists of a raised rectangular element divided into four compartments with an arrow extending centrally from the upper edge. This feature is framed within a border of four raised pellets. The metal is a mid whitish-brown colour and is worn. The seal is 28.1mm in diameter, 1.7mm thick and weighs 10.4g.

Roman to post Medieval copper alloy bowl rim fragment. The inner face has a horizontal band of stylised cable (a series of short diagonal lines) decoration between the rim and a small step. Decoration on the external face consists of two vertical lines below the 'step'. Probably dates to between c43 and c1700 AD. No parallel has been found to provide a firmer date range. The length is 45mm and the width 20mm.

A complete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is a single looped D-shape and is undecorated and has been bent out of shape. The metal has a mid greenish-brown patina and is worn. The buckle is 20.8mm long, 11.8mm wide, 2mm thick and weighs 1.7g. Similar examples are illustrated in Whitehead, p.18 and are dated to circa 1250 - 1500.

An incomplete cast copper mount of post-medieval date. The mount is in the form of an acorn with a narrow, pointed oval section. The front face is decorated with a raised horizontal line dividing the fruit from the cupola and there is a small knop at the fruit end. From the reverse two integrally cast attachment spike project though one is incomplete. The complete spike is bent over towards the centre of the mount. The metal has a mid reddish-brown patina and is worn. The mount is 20.3mm long, 9.6mm wide, 7.5mm thick and weighs 1.9g. Numerous similar examples have been recorded …
