Post Medieval cast lead-tin alloy (pewter) toy, probably an open-mouthed ewer or jug. The piece has a circular foot with a slightly irregular broken edge and a raised ring running around it, this narrows at the connection with the main body with a second ring as it starts to widen out again. The foot is hollow on the base. The main body is circular at the base widening front and back to an oval shape at the broken top. An incomplete copper-alloy gilt Medieval (1150-1500) single-loop buckle frame and plate, missing the pin and folded backwards-together. Measures 15.04x20.01x6.72mm and weighs 3.75g. Unfolded the length would be c.25mm. The buckle frame is D-shaped with thickened and rounded outside edge and central notch for the pin. The notch carries gilding still. The axis bar is narrowed and offset, with a moulding at either end where it joins the frame. The plate is also D-shaped with two projecting tabs to curl around the axis bar. A plano-convex button, cast-in-one, with an integral sub-rectangular loop drilled with a round hole on the reverse. It is decorated with engraved or punched lines in the form of a cinquefoil or flower, offset from the centre, and a line of double curves or crescents around the edges, alternating between facing the centre and facing the edges. A comparably shaped example may be found in Read (2005), p. 146, no 975, but the details of the decoration are different. Diameter 25 mm, height 6mm. Dates to the 17th century.
