Incomplete medieval sheet copper alloy buckle plate dating to the period c. AD 1200 - 1450. Roughly cut into a rectangular shape and folded along one short edge to wrap around the strap bar. A circular hole pierces both plates just behind the strap bar to house the wire pin. The attachment end is held together by a copper alloy rivet with roved over ends. Incomplete medieval sheet copper alloy buckle plate dating to the period c. AD 1200 - 1450. Rectangular with two projecting tabs along the front edge, both of which terminate in an old break. These would have originally been folded around the strap bar of the missing buckle frame. The plate exhibtits three rivet holes in a triangular arrangement, one of which retains a dome-headed rivet. Post medieval copper alloy double loop asymmetrical buckle dating to the period c. AD 1575 - 1700. Central narrowed strap bar with a D-shaped loop on one side and a trapezoidal loop on the other. The trapezoidal loop has a trefoliate outer edge and exhibits an engraved longitudinal groove. The D-shaped loop exhibits two pairs of radiating diagonal grooves. At the centre of the outside edge is a moulded and grooved rosette, with three petals to the outside and two to the inside. The buckle has a D-shaped cross-section, being flat to the underside. The buckle is composite buckle with a D-shaped frame drilled for a separate pin bar, and an integral folded sheet copper alloy plate. A complete copper alloy Buckle (shoe or knee) of Post-Medieval date (AD 1660-1720). The object is a rectangular two piece buckle with a drilled frame. The ends of the frame are pointed and engraved with transverse lines on raised moulding across the frame. The object retains is tapering pin and cast stand chape. The metal is a light green in colour with areas of brown corrosion around the axis bar (possibly composed of iron). The object has a predominantly smooth patina. An incomplete cast copper alloy double looped buckle dating to the post-medival period, c. 16th century. The remaining buckle consists of just over half of one D-shaped loop. There is a moulded floral motif on the edge of the outer frame. The reverse is flat, plain and undecorated. Similar buckles with more rounded and pronounced rosettes tend to be attributed a later 16th-century date (Egan 2005, 35; ref. 88, found in a 17th century context but assumed to be residual), although the type must pre-date 1545 as it was found on the Mary Rose (Gardiner ed. 2005, 104; ref. 82A5069).
