A silver denarius, possibly a contemporary copy, of Severus Alexander dating to the period AD 222 to 224 (Reece period 11). P M TR P (II/III) COS P P reverse type depicting Jupiter standing left holding thunderbolt and sceptre. Mint of Rome. RIC IV, Pt II, p. 71, no. 5; or p. 72, no. 19; or p. 73, no. 35. This coin is slightly distorted and is light for a denarius which may indicate that it is a copy.

A silver denarius of Severus Alexander (AD 222-235). RIC contains no listing for this coin, which has the reverse legend 'P M TR P V COS II P P' (indicating a date of AD 226) and the image of Pax running left; such coins are, however, listed under the entries for the following two years (nos. 67 and 80). The coin is slightly corroded but has little wear. It measures 18.9mm in diameter, 2.2mm thick and weighs 2.1g.

It is possibly a copy of RIC volume 4 part 2 no. 356, in which the obverse bust right lacks a diadem; cupid may be hiding in Venus's lower skirts! Diameter: 17.5mm, Weight: 2.23gms.
