A post-medieval copper-alloy Nuremberg jetton of anonymous issuer dated 1553 (on jetton). Rechen meister type, '1553' series inscribed with the alphabet and a date. Minted at Nuremberg. See Mitchiner (1988, 415; no. 1424). This jetton has a diameter of 22mm, and a weight of 3.022g. It has been pierced probably through the obverse well inside the circumference at about 4 o'clock, corresponding to about 2 o'clock on the reverse.

It has suffered considerable losses at its circumference outside the inner circle.

See Mitchiner (1988, 446) nos 1586-1589, though this jetton has a variant obverse legend It measures 20 mm in diameter. It has been pierced through the obverse at about 1 o'clock on the inner circle, corresponding to about 11 o'clock on the reverse, possibly for conversion into an item of jewellery. The curved removal at the circumference is as a result of the production process.
