General shape is a dome in the centre with three protrusion which are like strap ends, these are double plated, the ends slightly flared with an iron rivet at the edge. Two of the protrusions are incomplete. The dome has a knop on the top with ridged and curved lines as decoration. A comparison cannot be found.

Fragment of a square headed brooch, triangular outline, chip-carved, gilt, worn.
The image attached to this record is indeed of a triangular chip-carved object, but it is a gusset plate rather than a square-headed brooch. Gusset plates are also early Anglo-Saxon, 6th century AD, but are worn on the sleeve with a pair of wrist-clasps.

Germanic, body AE, high Cu content, spring wire Fe, Fe axis still present. no pin or catchplate, foot end vertical incision to convert broken brooch into fingernail cleaner. Axis bar terminates in little ball ends, bow top with three ring-dots and little side incisions, one vertical groove, bottom with side incisions and one dot.

Bronze 'handle'. Gently curving bronze strip, oval in section, narrowing and sharply curving at one end terminating in crude scroll and short continuation over top of scroll. Opposite end terminates in short rectangular flange or tenon. Moulded on either side of the widest part of the 'handle' are two human faces, one full-frontal, the other in half profile to left.
