A complete and worn post-Medieval copper-alloy spherical animal 'crotal' bell (1600-1800).
The sub-rectangular suspension loop at the top is about 12.0mm long, 13.0mm wide, 5.9mm thick and has a circular drilled aperture. The suspension loop is misaligned with the plane of the body. There are file marks on both faces of the suspension loop. The upper and lower hemispheres are divided by a prominent horizontal circumferential joining rib. A fragment of a post-Medieval copper-alloy spherical animal 'crotal' bell (1600-1800).
The suspension loop at the top and one side of the body is missing due to breaks.
The upper and lower hemispheres are divided by a prominent horizontal circumferential joining rib. The plain upper hemisphere has the remains of a circular sound hole. The lower hemisphere is decorated with 'fish-scale' motifs. At the base a small incised plaque contains incised maker's initials: S*C.
This bell has a dark green patina on the outer face and the inner face is light green.
