A complete post-Medieval lead alloy Dorset alnage cloth seal, probably issued during the reign of James I (1603-1625). This cloth seal is a four part type: Blank // [DO]RSE[T]// crowned thistle I R to sides // D in beaded inner border, [SEA]RCH[ED] around. The cloth seal has a buff patina. An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy spherical animal 'crotal' bell (1600-1800). A small portion is missing at the base due to a break. The sub-rectangular suspension loop at the top is about 11.8 mm long, 11.0mm wide, 5.7mm thick and has a circular drilled aperture. A complete but slightly damaged post-Medieval Isle of Wight military button (c. 1800). This button is circular in plan, convex at the front and concave at the rear (domed). The front has a raised design: crowned A V, indicating Arreton Volunteers. The rear face has a squashed integral attachment loop which is surrounded by six evenly spaced "rosettes". An incomplete and squashed post-Medieval silver closed thimble (c. 1600-c. 1700). Treasure case no. 2017 T567. The thimble was found together in three pieces. The walls have eight interlocking chevrons defined by plain bands and each chevron is filled with 'waffle work'. There are three plain circumferential plain bands, one above and two below.
