Roman (1st century) bow brooch fragment, probably Hod Hill. Brooch fragment consisting of the right half of a rolled hinge, and top of the bow only. Possible remnants of copper axis bar contained in remaining hinge. The top of the bow is a horizontally orientated short length, nearly square, rectangle decorated with three transverse ridges separated by two broad grooves. Directly beneath the third of the transverse is an another horizontal groove which does not extend the entire width of the brooch like those above it. Incomplete trumpet derived cast copper alloy brooch. Both the head plate and foot section are missing along with a proportion of the catch plate. The top of the bow is oval in section which increases in diameter towards an acanthus button. Above and below the button is a collar consisting of three transverse ridges. The upper of the collars is worn. The acanthus is of a devolved type and also quite worn. Incomplete cast copper alloy Roman dolphin variant brooch. The right hand wing and pin are absent, and the pin rest also missing. The left tubular wing survives with remains of iron axis bar. The humped bow with sub-triangular section terminates in a pointed foot. A short catch plate,14.8mm in length and 6.3mm in width, is present but with no pin rest. There is a slight clockwise twist of catch plate when viewed from the pate end down the length of the brooch. Roman (1st century) cast copper alloy brooch fragment: Lion bow derivative. An incomplete lion derivative bow brooch; bow and catchplate present only. The top most part of the bow consists of a longitudinally orientated prism whose section tapers towards the top. There are two transverse ridges across the prism forming a chevron which points up the brooch. The fan section of the bow is flat and measures 1.1mm in thickness excluding the catch plate. Roman cast copper alloy brooch fragment. Probably Hod Hill type, 1st century AD. Only the head and hinge survives. The rolled head hinge is damaged on the left side and the front and rear copper alloy sheet which form the hinge have separated. The right side of the hinge is intact but the axis bar is missing. Hinge and bow separated by a large transverse convex ridge. Copper alloy casting gate or spure, possibly Bronze Age. The top of the object is sub-oviform/figure of eight shape with flat but rough surface. The top is 46.6mm in length and 32.4mm at its widest point. The top of object divides in to two sub-circular projections which taper to inward facing flat prongs at their ends. Projections diverge 13mm from top of object at approximately 75 degrees from each other and terminate at 20mm and 21mm from the point of divergence. The maximum height of object is 46.6mm and the weight is 118.0g.

A Roman cast copper alloy. (40-80AD). Complete except for pin. The bow is bent to the backwards and to the right, as viewed from the front, with a slight clockwise twist of the catch plate. Complete tubular wings hold an intact copper axis bar around which the loop end of a copper pin survives, the rest of the pin is missing.
