A silver penny of William I type 6 (Sword type) dating to the early-mid 1080s mint and moneyer unknown rev legend. Looks like it reads NLNI and the obverse reads as +[P]ILLELM [RE]X. The diameter is 18mm and the weight 0.93g The find is a silver early medieval coin would not usually be classed as treasure. However the coin has been pierced and upon checking if this should be a treasure case with a piercing as a secondary making the coin into an object John Naylor National Finds Advisor for Medieval coins to PAS has stated that as pre-1180 pierced coin it needs to be reported …
