A copper-alloy Roman contemporary copy of a sestertius of Trajan (AD 98-117), dating to the period c.AD 98-117 (Reece period 5). [S P Q R OPTIMO PRINCIPI], S C, reverse type depicting a modius with corn ears. This coin was originally recorded as a sestertius of Nerva with the characteristics PLEBEI VRBANAE FRVMENTO CONSTITVTO reverse type depicting a modius. However, it is in fact a imitative sestertius of Trajan belonging to a die-linked group of coins published by B. Woytek (see Numismatic Chronicle 174, 2014: pp. 119-124, pls. 14-16) that includes at least four other examples …
