An incomplete copper alloy object, probably dating to the Early Medieval period. The object is rectangular in plan and cross-section. One long edge is incomplete due to ancient breaks and has a slight rectangular projection in the centre. Along the opposite long edge is a pierced sub-oval projection, which projects at a right angle to the body of the object.

An incomplete copper alloy brooch of the cruciform type, dating to the early Anglo-Saxon period, from c. AD 500-550.
The head of the brooch is mostly missing with only a small fragment and one partial wing remaining. From the centre of the lower edge of the headplate a D-sectioned arched bow extends downwards with ridged moulding at each corner. The lower bow is flat and recessed with zoomorphic projections. A copper alloy strap-end probably of Thomas's Class A, type 1. The strap-end is made from a piece of copper alloy a maximum of 3mm thick, with a split at the attachment end. The attachment end is incomplete and worn.
Worn decoration is visible on the outer face of the object within a rectangular panel and is highlighted by areas of silvering however the exact design cannot be determined. The object tapers in width before terminating with a rounded zoomorphic snout. The rear of the object is flat and undecorated however a fragment of silvering is visible.
