Half a very corroded cast copper-alloy double loop buckle frame. The surviving loop is oval internally and has a pointed outside edge; although only stubs of the second loop survive, it was probably identical. There is a projecting knop at either end of the strap bar, which is slightly narrowed. A copper-alloy pin with open loop survives on the bar. 32.5mm long and 26.37mm wide. Weighs 5.27g. Whitehead illustrates a similar example (2003, 56, no. 323) which he dates to c.1500-1650.

Copper alloy double-loop buckle frame, both loops oval and D-shaped in cross-section. The circular-section bar is slightly narrowed, and slightly recessed so that the buckle is angled slightly about the bar. There is a very slight moulding continuing the line of the bar where it meets the frame. The centre of one ouside edge has a pair of oblique grooves emphasising the pin rest, and it may have a groove in the centre forming the pin rest, although corrosion makes this unclear. It measures 39.28mm long and 31.09mm wide, and weighs 6.75g. A very similar although smaller example is show…

A hook-piece from a late medieval to early post-medieval book clasp, dating circa 1400-1600. The item, made of a single plate, is rectangular and has a flared end opposite the hook. It was originally flat, but has been bent whilst in the ground. The other, flared end is broken, with none of the original edge surviving. The front has two circular rivet holes through which a rivet survives intact in one hole. The front is decora…
