A complete cast copper alloy medieval seal matrix, dating to the c. 14th century AD. The seal matrix has a flat round face into which the inscription and motif is cast. From the centre of the reverse extends a faceted and fluted integrally cast handle which terminates in an openwork trefoil loop. The face of the matrix is hardly worn and the impressions taken are clear; the device depicts a dot below a crescent which is surmounted by a cross, flanked by Y-shaped motifs. Below are the letters IHC. Rotating the matrix 180 degrees the inscription around the outer edge reads '+EST AMOR ME…
