Object type: PENDANT
Broad period: EARLY MEDIEVAL
County: Leicestershire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Fragment of a silver object, probably originally a disc-shaped pendant. The fragment comprises a piece of silver sheet with no intact edge, decorated with repousse ornament creating five radiating lines of dots which converge in the centre of the fragment.
The decoration upon this fragment, its form and its association with a grave assemblage suggests it could derive from a silver sheet disc-shaped or 'scutiform' pendant, similar to those illustrated in MacGregor and Bolick (1993) figs. 25.3-5, p. 162. Scutiform pendants are usually found in grave contexts, and several are now reco…

undated gold sheet, 15mm, long, 10mm wide and 0.25mm thick with a weight of 1.78g.
