Medieval seal matrix, (c.1200 - c.1400): The lead or lead alloy seal matrix is incomplete, with a portion of the terminal missing. The matrix is a pointed oval in plan and has a flat back. The device on the die of the matrix is a pointed lentoid which is bisected along its length. Either side of the bisecting line there are three small pellets. The legend reads [ ] · R · D' BON[ ]. The surface of the matrix is a light grey colour with a laminating surface. The matrix measures 29.39mm long, 24.3mm wide, 4.89mm thick and weighs 13.87g.

A Medieval (13th century) seal matrix: The lead seal matrix is circular and a flat-backed type which is undecorated and without a perforated lug on the back. The underside has the legend and device which has been cast and engraved. The device depicts a cross fleuretty with a X in the centre.
