An illegible Roman copper alloy sestertius. The coin is extensively pitted however there is a small patch of the original surface remaining on the reverse on which the letters SC are legible. The letters are small and appear to be from text running across the centre of the coin in lines, rather than being from an inscription around the perimeter or the larger 'S C' marks seen across the reverse of coins of this period. The finder suggests that the inscription might match that of RIC 96 for Claudius, which has a reverse that reads EX SC/O B/CIVES/SERVATOS over four lines.
