Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Copper alloy bell-shaped stud, probably Roman and probably related to the many other bell-shaped fittings discussed by Allason Jones (1985) and again by Allason-Jones and McKay (1985, Coventinas Well, A shrine on Hadrians Wall). The fitting has a conical head with the remains of an iron shank in the centre. This object is slightly smaller than the other bell-shaped fittings recorded from Lincolnshire, and also does not have a moulded interior either; in this instance the iron shank is visible in the centre on both sides.
