Treasure number 2017 T815: a post-medieval silver-gilt terminal, perhaps for a dress fitting such as a pin. The terminal is formed from two hollow conical elements soldered together. Each cone made from thin silver sheet, and decorated with filigree spirals, mouldings and knops in an architectural manner. Diameter at centre 11 mm, weight: 2.23g. Both ends have a small circular opening of circa 1mm diameter. The filigree decoration with its architectural elements echoes that on ball-headed pins and would seem to suggest a 16th Century date. Similar biconical terminals are recorded as D…

An early Anglo-Saxon pin dating to the sixth century. The pin has a flat, flared head with a circular hole in the centre that would have attached spangles. The head tapers to a swollen collar.
