An iron knife ferrule. The ferrule is rectangular in profile and oval in section, and appears to comprise at least eight bands. Each band is recessed. An incomplete shank of rectangular section extends from the top, and an incomplete blade extends from the bottom. Both sides of the blade taper from the ferrule to the blade proper. The entire length of the object is 44mm, and the ferrule is 17mm long and 12mm wide. The tang measures 8mm by 5mm, and is circa 15mm long. The blade is circa 8mm long.

The blade has a flat back. The underside curves downwards and away from the handle on the underside. Most of the blade is missing.

A possible late medieval or post-medieval knife handle. It has an elongated narrow shank, either side of which a handle such as one made of wood or bone might have been riveted. It has a bulbous and collared terminal. The object itself might be made of iron, but corrosion now covers the entire surface.

A damaged iron knife. The knife has a tapering integral tang. The back of the tang is flush with the back of the blade. The blade edge is missing, but the shape is elongated and the tip is missing. The knife is now bent at the point where blade meets tang. Possibly Anglo-Saxon, but probably much later.

An incomplete iron knife, probably dating to the Anglo-Saxon period, sixth or seventh-century. The tang of the knife is mostly missing and the perimeter of the knife is corroded, however it is still possible to make out the original profile of the knife blade. The blade has an low-arched back and a high-arched cutting edge. The back is 4mm in width (including corrosion) and tapers to the cutting edge.

Incomplete composite iron knife handle. The handle is oval in cross-section and is completely broken at one end. The other end has an expanded section, triangular when viewed from above and trapezoidal when viewed from the side. This part is also made of iron and is very worn. It looks as is if it was originally two sections and perhaps grasped the iron blade. Decorating the handle are five evenly spaced copper alloy circular bands. Between the bands there was probably once wood or bone however no evidence of this survives.

Iron knife blade and tang. The whittle tang is about 25mm in length. The knife blade has an angled back about 4mm wide; both the front and rear parts of the back are straight. The tip of the blade is missing. The cutting edge is about 52mm in length. This knife is of Evison's type 5 (Evison 1987, 113) or Ottaway's type A2 (Ottaway 1992, 562-4). It may date from any time from about 575 AD up to the Norman Conquest, or even possibly beyond.
