An incomplete copper alloy object of Roman or medieval date. The object is an incomplete shank of octagonal section. There section is essentially a square with a narrow facet at each corner. File marks are visible along all sides, and the object has a dark brown patina. One end is broken while the other terminates with two prongs. The prongs are curved and appear to be a modification of an object that once served a different purpose. The object seems too thick to be a needle or bodkin. The prongs are suggestive of a nail cleaner, but again the spacing between the prongs seems to wide f…

A fragment of sheet lead, probably of medieval or post-medieval date. The object comprises a slightly convex sheet of lead which has no original edges. The object is now sub-triangular in plan. Two of the three edges are irregular, suggesting that have been levered off or torn off a larger object. All edges share the same patina as the main body, which suggests the damage was done in antiquity. The final edge is undulating and may have been subjected to heat and melting in antiquity. This suggestions is also evidenced on the reverse, where a large flow of lead appears to have solidifi…

Treasure reference 2018 T364: a small fragment of a silver object of unknown function. The object is flat and has been cut on all sides and now takes on a sub-rectangular shape. The surface is worn and scratched on both sides. An oval shaped indentation is visible off-centre on one side, which has pushed the metal into a convex oval on one side. The object has no dating evidence itself, but is from a known Early-Medieval productive site and is probably evidence for silverworking of that date. In light of the context of the site the object is probably Early Medieval, circa 800-900.

Fragment of a gilt copper alloy unidentified object. The item appears to comprise a single sheet of copper alloy which then splits into two plates one one edge, much like the terminal of a strap-end.
