A fragment from a copper-alloy medieval double-looped buckle of probable 13th-14th century date. The fragment is the corner of one of the loops, including part of the side, measuring c. 12 mm long, and probable just over half of the outer edge, the latter measuring 17 mm in length. The outer edge has three equally-spaced knops each with a single engraved line running through the centre of the knops on the front, at least. Such grooves may have contained wire. A fragment of 17th-century clay pipe bowl with marker's mark on the heel. The stem and bowl are missing to old breaks. The stamped mark on the heel reads THO/MAS/ HVNT, in three lines. This is a recorded maker from Norton St Philip, Somerset, c. 1635-1650, brother of John and Jeffery Hunt. The fragment measures 7 mm in length; the heel measures 7 mm by 8 mm. It was found in the same area as a pipe of Jeffry Hunt (SOM-E93FA7 on this database). See Society for Clay Pipe Research Newsletter 8 (October 1985, 14-21) for further information on the Hunt family. A fragment of a post-medieval clay pipe stem of late 17th- to early 18th-century date. The bowl is completely lost to a old break. The stem tapers from the heel, and appears to be truncated at the other end. The heel has been stamped with a maker's mark of a sixteen pointed star in a lozenge. The fragment measures 45 mm in length, and up to 7 mm in thickness. A directly comparable maker's mark has been recorded on a pipe found in the same parish, recorded as SOM-8BA2D1 on this database. A fragment of copper-alloy probable post-medieval spur, probably a rowel spur. The piece appears to be the end of one of the arms which includes the expanded oval- or heart-shaped terminal plate with two circular holes through it for attaching the spur to the wearer's boot. Both holes are broken through. The is a slight collar between the terminal and remains of the spur arms, separated from the terminal by an engraved line on the front. Two solidified and melted fused lumps of metal alloys and coins. The first group measures 12cm in length and 7cm in width. Only two coins are identifiable by type, within the melted alloy on the far left is the remains of a modern period fifty pence piece, and on the outside centre a fused five pence piece, both are consistant with the date of the pier fire in 2008. No further details on the coins can be discerned.
