Copper alloy brooch of La Tene III, Nauheim derivative type. The brooch appears to have been constructed from a single piece of wire. The foot has been hammered flat and curled back to form a vertical catchplate. The bow is simple, not significantly arched and undecorated. The spring coil curves to one side then wraps around underneath the bow, curving around to the other side and forming the pin.

Object type: FINGER RING
Broad period: ROMAN
County: East Riding of Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Fragment of copper-alloy finger-ring with flat rectangular-section hoop. Decoration consists of engraved ring-and-dot motifs in a slightly untidy row, between two parallel grooves. This section of decoration is hemmed in by transverse crudely incised grooves. At one end there is one further pair of concentric circles before the break of the hoop. Finger-rings with similar decoration tend to be given a Roman date (e.g. NARC-003F98, WILT-026081, BH-0DA256 and WILT-627C01).

Cast copper alloy brooch, most likely to be a Langton Down variant type. The object is comprised mainly of the bow, although the remnants of the wings seem to indicate that they would have been tubular. The bow is very flat and decorated with four slightly raised lines (in two pairs set slightly apart). The only trace of the catchplate is a small vertical ridge towards the foot.

Cast copper alloy single loop clasp fastener with an integral forked spacer. The plate is broken but appears to be comprised of two sheets attached by a single rivet at the far end from the buckle. The folding mechanism of the buckle is still attached to the bar by a folded-over tag on the closure. The face of this closure has a raised sub-rectangular decoration with two grooves forming a right angle in one of the corners. There is a possible low tooth on the fixing side of the folding mechanism. Small ridges decorate the outer base of the loop frame and the outside of the frame at th…
