A fragment from a leg of a copper alloy cooking vessel, probably of Medieval or early Post-Medieval date, about AD 1100 - 1700. Only a triangular fragment of the leg survives.  It is triangular in cross-section and was probably from a small vessel. The top is a patinated break. The leg does not closely match any of the examples in figure 4 of Butler, Green and Payne (2009) Finds Research Group Datasheet 41. There are traces of sooting on the surfaces. It is 15.7mm long, 18.8mm wide and 6.7mm thick. 5.2g.

The lower part of a leg from a copper alloy cooking vessel, probably of Medieval or early Post-Medieval date, about AD 1100 - 1700. The upper part of the surviving leg is sub-triangular in section with a rounded ridge running down the front. The base of the leg terminates in a large foot resembling the paw of an animal with three rounded toes.The base of the leg is flat and semi-circular with a concave back. A ceramic vessel fragment; a base and wall sherd of Roman greyware dating from AD 43 - 410. The fabric is hard, fine and dark grey in the core, but lighter grey to buff on the outer faces with an area of orange. It has frequent well sorted angular quartz inclusions. The base has a diameter of 180mm and about 12% of the perimeter survives. The wall is at an angle of about 70 degrees from the base. The sherd is 85.1mm long, 32.8mm high and the base is 14.2mm thick while the wall is 10.3mm thick. 65.5g.

A sherd of a ceramic vessel of uncertain date, Roman to Medieval, AD 43 - 1500. It is a everted and clubbed rim sherd. The fabric is soft, irregular and is dark grey in the core and light brown on the surfaces. Grey patches on the outer face may be the remains of slip (suggesting a Medieval date), or could be mud. The inclsuiions are sparse and poorly sorted, and include possible sand and larger pink crystals (pink quartz?).

A lead vessel repair or pot mend of Roman to Medieval date (about AD 43-1500).  The object is a plug to mend a hole in a vessel wall. The object is composed of an outer sub-circular, concave plate, which tapers inwards to a smaller circular plate that would have attached the plate to the body of the vessel. It is H shaped in cross-section. A small amount of orange ceramic vessel fabric survives in the groove. It is 18.6mm long, 11.5mm wide, 9.4mm thick and 9.1g. A leg probably from a cooking vessel such as a cauldron, dating from the Medieval to Post-Medieval period, about AD 1100 - 1850. The leg is D shaped in cross section, flat at the front, and terminates in a massive rounded paw like foot. The width flares from 26.8mm to 49.2mm at the foot. The base has dark patches indicating sooting. It is 51.2mm long and weighs 420g. The foot does not match any examples in Butler, Green and Payne (2009), but must have been from a substantial vessel or other piece of furniture.

A fragment of an undecorated ceramic vessel; an everted rim sherd from a vessel, probably of Roman grey ware dating from AD 43 - 410. The fabric is hard and fine to irregular. It is light grey throughout with frequent, well-sorted grey grit inclusions. An assemblage of 10 sherds of Roman ceramic vessel, dating from AD 43 - 410. There are five rim sherds and five wall sherds, representing at least 5 greyware vessels. The fabric on all the sherds is fine, hard, grey throughout, with abundant grey grit and quartz inclusions, all well sorted. The rims are all everted, but one has a seating for a lid, and one has a groove along the wall just below the rim. They are too small to estimate the diameter of the vessels, apart from one which is about 5% of a rim of about 280mm internal rim diameter. The breaks are worn. Combined mass 126g.
