A silver Roman denarius of Severus Alexander (AD 222-235), dating to the period c.AD 222-235 (Reece period 11). SALVS PVBLICA reverse type depicting Salus, draped, seated left on throne, feeding out of patera in right hand snake coiled round altar and resting left arm on side of throne. cf. RIC IV.2, p. 84, no. 178d for the probable reverse type.
The coin is 17.4mm diameter, 2.4mm thick and 3.48g in weight.
The reverse legend is blundered and appears to read SALVS PSV[...](C?)S, which suggests that either the coin has been double struck with the SALVS legend appearing at both ends of…
